10 Ideas to Keep Your Kids Busy

Ten Ways to Keep Your Kids Busy

On this week’s episode, we are practising social distancing and joining one another remotely to record. We’re chatting our top 10 tips to keep the kiddos busy during social distancing.

These are ideas other than screen time, but it doesn’t mean that we are against screen time! These are just some different ideas to fill your day. Remember there are zero rules on how you should respond to a global pandemic.

Our Top 10 Tips for Keeping Kiddos Busy:

  1. Let them help you cook/bake/clean/laundry
  2. DIY’s: paint, play dough. Then it’s like two activities in one, making it – and then using it. Support local – have small businesses in Durham creating DIY craft packs, make your own bath bombs, pottery painting etc.
  3. Move together as a family.
  4. Play board games if your kids are older, or maybe puzzles for younger kids. Amazon is still delivering, a great time to introduce your kids to your favourite games from when you were a kid. Some our our favourites include Go Fish, Jenga and Dutch Blitz.
  5. Toy washing for toddlers
  6. Digital playdates and FaceTime parties with friends. They still need social interaction.
  7. Alone time for everyone. Reading, quiet time. You don’t have to be parenting every second of the day, its okay for everyone to take a break.
  8. Get outside time, walk and explore. Hunt for things to use in DIY’s.
  9. Teach a skill – sewing, reading a real map, basic cooking skills, baking.
  10. Take online tours – museums and parks etc. LouvreVirtual Walking ToursNature WalksZoos
